    Overview

    East Midlands Airport (EMA) is an airport in the East Midlands of England, located at Castle Donington in North West Leicestershire, between Derby, Leicester and Nottingham all within a 20 miles (32 km) radius. It serves primarily as an airport for the local inhabitants making it the 10th busiest airport in the UK by passenger traffic and is also Britain's second largest freight airport. East Midlands offers many low-cost and charter flights. The airport is one of the largest charter bases in Britain and is Ryanair's third largest British base and is Bmibaby's largest base with eight of their aircraft based here. The airport is owned by the Manchester Airports Group (MAG) which is controlled by the ten metropolitan boroughs of Greater Manchester and is the largest UK-owned airport group.
